The World Bank has said in its latest East Asia and Pacific Economic Update report that the earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan on March 11, could result in an economic loss of up to 235 billion dollars, or four per cent of its gross domestic product (GDP).
The report also states that it would take Japan about five years to rebuild. The calamity has claimed over 8600 lives and left more than 12800 people missing, News.com.au reports.

If the past is any indication, New York can be hit by an earthquake, claims John Armbruster, a seismologist at Columbia University’s Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory.

Bill Chambers is the Executive Vice President and a founding partner of Construction Risk Solutions, LLC.  Bill has over 30 years of insurance industry experience focusing on large casualty risks primarily in the construction industry.  He has been instrumental in helping large construction firms develop cost-effective solutions for transferring risk, ranging from structuring partial self-insured programs to establishing captive insurance companies. Bill has also developed and coordinated insurance and surety programs for the US operations of several European based global construction firms as well as expanding CRS’ footprint and relationship with our international broker partners.
